Building a Family Heritage - An American-Made Story
Our Family – An American-Made Story
![]() Airport Windsock Corporation is the product of genuine family ambition and a lifelong dedication to aviation. Married in 1984, Chris and Debra Stepp launched their first aviation business just a couple of years later—grounded in Chris’s years as an accomplished aircraft mechanic and Debra’s determination to learn every stitch as she went. Many of those earliest windsocks were made late at night on a vintage 1930s Singer sewing machine, a treasured family keepsake to this day.
From those humble beginnings at home, the Stepp family grew the company together. Their daughters joined as teenagers, gradually mastering the craft and building a work ethic that defines the business even now. Both sons-in-law have since joined the team, reinforcing Airport Windsock Corporation as a true multigenerational, American-owned operation.
Our commitment to real American quality shows in every detail: we source our fabric and materials in the U.S.A., cut and sew each windsock in-house, and keep our standards high from start to finish. You’ll see it in every order, in the pride behind every shipment, and in the kind of service and reliability that keeps us working with the most demanding names in aviation and industry.
Every photo in our gallery tells a piece of this ongoing story—welding at the bench, sewing in the early shop, or the whole family together at airshows—demonstrating that our legacy isn’t just about what we make, but how we make it.
It’s a business grounded in family and built for the future. Nothing means more than when our grandson says, “Popop, I want to work in your shop some day.” That simple wish reminds us why we do what we do—passing down hard work, skill, and American values to the next generation.
